Sixth Form Work Experience

Each year, our Year 12 students take part in a dedicated work experience week during the final week of term. For 2026, this will take place from Monday 13 July to Friday 17 July.

Students are expected to arrange their own placements. While support and opportunities are shared through a dedicated Google Classroom, the responsibility for researching employers, making contact and securing a placement sits with each student. This process is an important part of the experience, helping to develop confidence, communication skills and organisation.

We strongly encourage students to secure a placement well in advance. Planning early helps to avoid unnecessary pressure during the mock examination period and ensures students can access meaningful and relevant opportunities.

Parents and carers can support by discussing progress with their child, including:

  • whether a placement has been identified
  • whether it has been confirmed or is still at an early stage
  • what steps have already been taken, such as contacting employers
  • what the next steps will be

If plans are not yet in place, students should take action as soon as possible. Early applications often lead to stronger placement opportunities.

If students are unsure how to proceed or need further support, they are encouraged to speak to a member of the Sixth Form team.

Work experience is a valuable opportunity to gain insight into the workplace, build key skills and explore future career pathways. We want every student to make the most of this experience.

Required Forms

There are two forms that must be submitted:

  • Employer Form – to be completed by the employer and signed by both the student and their parent or carer
  • Parent Consent Form – to be completed by the parent or carer and signed by the student

Both forms must be submitted before the placement can begin.
