Pearson BTEC Dance

1) Students for BTEC Dance will need to complete extra research on Practitioners that inspire them for them to reference in their written exam task.

2) Students will need to attend extra rehearsals in their own time / after school / school holidays to learn and develop their skills for their practical exam.

3) When students miss lessons they will need to ensure they catch up on any choreography they have missed in lessons.

  1. Focus on the core topics that have been covered, make sure that you understand topic 1.1 to 1.18.
  2. Focus on the specialist technical area which is “Timbers”. Revise the sources, selection of timbers, strengthening of timbers, stock forms and sizes and manufacturing techniques.
  3. Revise the command words that will be in your exam, what are the command words and how to respond to the exam question based on the command word.

1) Complete past papers under timed conditions. This is the most effective revision. It builds exam confidence, improves time management, and helps you to understand exactly what examiners are looking for. Ask your English teachers to read your work and give feedback.

2) Use Seneca regularly. The online resources help reinforce key skills such as reading analysis, language techniques, and exam knowledge through short, focused activities. Little and often is more effective than cramming.

3) Reflect and improve– After completing past papers or online tasks, identify mistakes and targets for improvement. Redo questions and practise applying feedback to secure progress. Your teachers can give you precise feedback.

1. Create Case-Study Flashcards (CAUSE → EFFECT → RESPONSE). Keep each case study to 6–8 key facts you can recall fast. Colour code the info int human/physical, social/economic/environmental.

2. Practise 9-mark Questions Using PEE + Evaluation. Use: Point → Evidence → Explain. Then add a final judgement (evaluation) for top marks. Practise planning answers in 1 minute, then writing in 7–8 minutes.

3. Master the Command Words. AQA uses specific command words, and understanding them can instantly boost marks. Describe = say what you see (no reasons). Explain = give reasons / “because…”. Assess / Evaluate = weigh up strengths/weaknesses + judgement. Compare = similarities and differences.

Eduqas Music 

1) Make sure that your folder is organised into the 4 Areas of Study. Approach each area of study separately and create flashcards for the terminology required for that topic. Only move on to the next Area of Study when you are really secure on that one.

2) Learn your two set works. Read and learn all the information about them using the Knowledge Organisers. Make sure that you also listen to them and are really familiar with the score of each one.

3) Make sure that you are aware of all of the relevant terminology for the extended written question. Learn the terms relating to the Mr D Tights acronym that we use to help us approach this question.
