Behaviour Curriculum

The chase 014At The Chase School, we set the highest expectations for our students' behaviour and attitudes. Our Behaviour Curriculum is central to school life and is built around one clear message:

Impeccable: every lesson, everywhere, everyday

We believe that excellent behaviour underpins successful learning, personal growth and the wellbeing of everyone in our school community. Our approach is calm, consistent and based on mutual respect. It supports students to develop self-discipline, show kindness and empathy, and contribute positively to the wider school environment.

Creating a Culture of High Expectations

We teach behaviour as a core part of the curriculum. Routines are made explicit, modelled and reinforced every day. This ensures that students are fully focused on learning, lessons are disruption-free and every child can thrive.

Staff apply expectations fairly and consistently, and students understand what is required of them. Our approach is not just about rules - it’s about building a culture where success is inevitable because behaviour supports learning, not detracts from it.

Recognising and Rewarding Success

We believe in celebrating positive behaviour and effort. Praise is central to our approach and is used consistently to acknowledge commitment, progress and personal improvement.

  • Teachers and tutors recognise students who go above and beyond
  • Achievement points and certificates celebrate both academic and personal successes
  • Praise Postcards home help build positive relationships with families
  • Subject Colours are awarded each term to one student per year group in every subject area, recognising excellence in academic achievement, attitude to learning and personal improvement
  • Whole-school celebration events help foster pride and give students something to aspire to

This culture of positive reinforcement helps students to feel valued and motivated to maintain high standards.

A Safe and Respectful School

Students are taught the importance of respect - for themselves, their peers and staff. Any form of discrimination, bullying or harmful behaviour is dealt with quickly, fairly and proportionately. We keep careful records of such incidents and work closely with families to support all involved.

We also recognise that each child is an individual. When reasonable adjustments are needed, they are made thoughtfully and in line with our commitment to maintaining high expectations for all.

Behaviour in Practice

  • Consistent routines at the start and end of every lesson support calm transitions and purposeful learning.
  • Positive relationships underpin all our work - between students and staff and among peers.
  • Clear consequences are in place for poor behaviour, always applied with fairness and clarity.
  • Targeted support helps students who need it to improve their conduct and engagement.
  • Parents and carers are kept informed and involved in supporting positive behaviour.

Confidence, Responsibility and Professionalism

Students at The Chase wear their uniform with pride, behave impeccably in corridors, classrooms and the community, and develop the habits of professionalism that will support their future success. We expect students to take personal responsibility for their actions and to support one another to meet our shared standards.
