As part of our ongoing curriculum review, we have spent time redesigning our Long-Term Plans (LTPs) for each subject and year group. These plans set out what students will learn and when they will learn it, ensuring that knowledge and skills are carefully sequenced across the school.
Each LTP outlines the key core knowledge that students are expected to learn - the essential facts, concepts and understanding that form the foundation of each subject. This core knowledge has been thoughtfully designed by our curriculum leaders to include the most powerful knowledge - the information that unlocks each subject and provides the building blocks for future learning. By ensuring this knowledge is taught in a carefully planned sequence, studensts can make meaningful connections across topics and year groups.
Alongside this, the LTPs identify the disciplinary knowledge studnents will develop - the subject-specific skills that enable them to think, question and work like a scientist, historian, artist or geographer. Together, these two strands of learning ensure that students not only know more but can do more.
You will also see reference to endpoints within each plan. These describe what we expect students to know and be able to do by the end of a unit, year or key stage. Endpoints help us measure progress and ensure that all learners are on track in their journey through the curriculum.
We believe it is important for parents and carers to have access to these documents. By sharing our Long-Term Plans, we hope to give you a clear picture of what your child will be learning throughout the year, and how you can support their learning at home.
