We would like to share a newly published guide from Dame Rachel de Souza, the Children’s Commissioner for England, titled What I wish my parents or carers knew: A guide for parents on managing children’s digital lives.
This guide has been written with direct input from children and young people across England and reflects their honest views about growing up online. It recognises the increasing challenges families face in balancing children’s safety with access to digital spaces that are central to learning, socialising and play.
The guide focuses on managing everyday online habits and supports parents and carers in setting firm, informed and protective boundaries. Children themselves are clear that they value adults taking an active role in keeping them safe online.
We believe this is an important and timely resource for our school community and encourage families to read and engage with it. Supporting children’s online safety is a shared responsibility and this guide offers valuable insight to help us work together in the best interests of our young people.
