Religious Studies Year 8 Trip to the Gurdwara & Yr 10 trip to Gloucester Mosque & Cathedral
A number of Year 8 students had the opportunity to visit the Gurdwara in Birmingham on Tuesday 5th March. The students received a warm welcome, being taught about how the Gurdwara was formed in Birmingham and seeing the worship place of the Sikh community. This was a fantastic opportunity for the students to visually understand what they have been learning about in lessons.
Pupils were also able experience Langar, which is the food served in the Gurdwara, and see inside the amazing dome on top of the Gurdwara.
The next day, some year ten students visited both the Masjid E Noor Mosque in Gloucester and Gloucester Cathedral to help students understand how and why Christians and Muslims worship, which is part of their GCSE studies. Amongst other things, students learnt about the importance of the Muslim and Christian community and were able to ask questions to the Imam about the challenges facing Islam in today’s society. All students had an enriching and enjoyable day.
