Book buying visit to the Malvern Book CooperativePosted on 17/12/2018
On Thursday, 13th December, a group of nine Year 7 students, accompanied by two Year 8 library assistants, visited the Malvern Book Cooperative to select books for our school library and a book for themselves. We were joined by Mr. Clutterbuck, Mrs. Fieldhouse, Miss. Joynes and Mrs. S. Craig from Friends of the Chase, all avid readers.
The Tom Gates series by Liz Pichon proved to be a popular choice, not forgetting ‘The Meltdown’, the latest book in Jeff Kinney’s ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ series. Non-fiction books proved to be just as popular as stories, with books about magic tricks, dinosaurs and vampires adding to our pile of purchases. A particularly beautiful book purchased was ‘I Am The Seed That Grew The Tree’ which contains a nature poem for every day of the year. We were fortunate to have £300 to spend thanks to the Siobhan Dowd Trust, a charity which sets out to encourage a love of books, and I feel we spent it wisely. This was certainly a shopping trip to remember and thanks must also go to the wonderful staff at the Malvern Book Cooperative who made us feel so welcome.
