Young Voices and New Visions: Expect the unexpected!Posted on 30/05/2019
16 students from Yr 8/9 have been busy rehearsing over two days this month with Lee Farley from Perfect Circle Theatre. This culminated in a moving performance in Worcester Cathedral on Wednesday 22nd May, as part of the local authority initiative: Young Voices and New Visions: Expect the unexpected!
Over 300 local students, from both primary and secondary schools, have been performing in the cathedral over the the past two days. We were honoured to be asked to perform again to represent the best of the Arts in Worcestershire schools.
The performance was a physical theatre piece based on the theme of conflict and protest linking the history of the cathedral to today’s society, and took place in the knave at Worcester Cathedral on Wednesday 22nd May at 7pm.
The group were given an allotted time of only 5 minutes to perform and during rehearsal came up with the ideas based on the themes of conflcit and protest. Using meaningful placards they allowed the audience to contemplate cleverly the state of our world and what might happen ‘unless’ we do something to help each other…
A thoughtful and provoking performance. They did a fantastic job! Well done to all!
Thanks to Mrs Livingstone for driving the minibus for us.
