A group of A level students attended a seminar given by Paula Bryne, best-selling and popular author, on her life as a writer which we were kindly invited to attend by Dr Wells from Malvern College. She was an exciting and compelling speaker who had just flown in from LA to be the main speaker at the George Sayer Fellowship lecture giving a public talk entitled Poetry, Mental Health and Well-being

“Words are the most powerful drug used by Mankind” (Rudyard Kipling).

We were hugely entertained by an account of “footstepping” her subjects around the world to immerse herself in their worlds and by the idea that her first novel, a thriller, was actually based on letters she received over a period of five years from a stalker. It was fascinating that she had been asked to write belle in eight weeks to accompany the release of the film. An inspiring morning!
