Dance at The Chase!Posted on 10/07/2018
It has been a very busy term for the Dancers at The Chase and they have taken it in their stride and showed off their talent. Students from Year 7-9 have worked very hard rehearsing for two shows in lots of after school, half term and weekend rehearsals. There were 30 students in total who were in the Night at the Musicals performance, performing to live music and both singing and backing tracks to some classic musical numbers. Performing with live music and singing is difficult, however the Chase Dancers made it look easy.
After Night at the Musicals it was the Great Big Dance-off final in Cheltenham Town Hall on Monday 2nd July! This is a national competition and our Year 11 dance group got through to the finals to compete against the best schools in the country. Anya Bloy-Hanks and Tasha Lloyd performed an outstanding duet called River, receiving 212 points out of 300. Unfortunately, they did not place in the top 3 this year, however getting to the finals is an amazing achievement itself as the competition was very tough and the quality of the pieces were amazing! Well done Anya and Tasha!
On Thursday 5th July we had our annual Dance Summer Showcase with a range of Year 7-11 dancers in the show! There were a variety of dance styles in the show which included Ballet, Jazz, Street and Contemporary; we also had a range of solos, duets, trios, quartets and group dances. It was lovely to see the Year 7s, 8s and 9s work and rehearse together to perform in the same dances. The Year 9s and 10s also performed a piece from “The Greatest Showman” to finish off the show and open the finale. It is very exciting to see such talent growing here at The Chase and we are very interested to see what the dancers are going to do in the future.
Here is the list of the performers, well done!

Miss Dee says: I am so so proud of all of the dancers this term. I cannot fault their efforts, commitment and time that they have dedicated to dance this year and it has really paid off. I would like to say thank you and well done to all students involved and thank you to the members of staff who have helped on stage and off, and also the parents for their help and support too. The Chase is really lucky to have such gifted students!
